Diagnosis Murder, Rockford Files and Simon and Simon

Famous male private investigators that we loved to watch.

Diagnosis Murder was another popular television show from 1991 to 1999. The story line follows Dr. Mark Sloan, played by Dick Van Dyke, the chief of internal medicine. He has a magnetic quality, much like Jessica Fletcher of Murder, She Wrote, which attracts murders to him. Mark Sloan plays private investigator in helping to solve the crimes by helping his son, Steve Sloan, who is a homicide detective.

The Rockford Files, which featured James Garner as Jim Rockford who lived and worked in Malibu, Los Angeles in his trailer. Rockford is an ex-con who was in prison for 5 years for armed robbery, which he did not commit and was later pardoned. The Rockford Files aired from 1974 to 1980, and also had one pilot movie and eight made-for-t.v. movies

Simon and Simon was a show about two brothers who were private investigators, Rick Simon, played by Gerald McRaney and A.J. Simon played by Jameson Parker. Simon and Simon work and live in San Diego and the show is about more than investigating, it’s about the relationship between the Simon brothers. The show ran for eight seasons from 1981 to 1989.
