Remington Steele, Moonlighting and The Equalizer

Probably one of the most famous duo's in television private investigation was Maddie Hayes and David Addison of Moonlighting.

Remington Steele was actually a lady private investigator, Laura Holt played by Stephanie Zimbalist who couldn’t get any work as a private investigator. She invented Remington Steele and had work aplenty. Then in came actor Pierce Brosnan, who took on the physical appearance of Remington Steele. The dynamic duo investigated crime, although Laura ‘did all the work’ and Steele ‘took all the credit’. The show ran for 5 seasons from 1982 to 1987.

Moonlighting, starring Cybill Shepard as Maddie Hayes and Bruce Willis as David Addison Jr., is about the Blue Moon Detective Agency which is all Maddie Hayes has left. The two get involved with quirky cases and solve the mysteries and crimes together as private investigators. The show aired for five seasons from early 1985 to late 1989.

If you had a problem, and the odds were against you, then you called The Equalizer, Robert McCall played by Edward Woodward. McCall is a ‘former agent of a shadowy, unnamed government agency’ who is atoning for his unspoken past sins by becoming a private investigator and using his honed skills. The show ran for four seasons from 1985 to 1989.
